Practical help for your Shopify website.

Start with the website you have.

Shopify handles important parts of the underlying platform, but your theme, content and integrations still shape the customer experience. A store can be reliable at the infrastructure level and awkward to use on a phone. A product page can load successfully and still leave a customer unsure about delivery, sizing or the next step. The repair needs to match the problem you actually have.

I start with a public storefront check and the journey you want customers to take. That means looking beyond the homepage. A collection template, a product with multiple variants and a busy promotional page may expose different issues. The automated scan gives us a limited sample; the scope review identifies where a deeper investigation is useful.

Five places I look first.

Theme and integration performance

Product media, review widgets, recommendations and tracking scripts all compete for attention and processing time. A feature may be valuable, but it should earn its place. I review the evidence for slow loading or blocking before deciding whether a theme adjustment, configuration change or app review is the better route.

App code that needs an inventory

The installed-app list and the code delivered to visitors are not always the same thing. A previous custom installation may leave theme code behind after an app is removed. I check what remains with the relevant developer’s instructions and a backup of the theme, rather than deleting scripts because their names look unfamiliar.

Product and collection pages with weak explanations

A product page should answer the questions that matter before purchase. A collection page should make its range and purpose clear. Titles, descriptions, visible headings and useful internal links need to agree. Adding generic keyword paragraphs everywhere is rarely a substitute for a well-organised buying journey.

Structured data that needs verification

A theme or app may already output product structured data. The task is to check what is present, whether it is valid and whether it matches the visible product information. I avoid adding a second competing implementation without inspecting the first. Valid markup can support eligibility, but does not guarantee a special search appearance.

Mobile purchase friction

Variant selectors, shipping information, consent prompts and sticky elements can compete on a small screen. The important question is whether people can make a confident choice and continue. Public HTML alone cannot establish that every interaction works, so manual storefront testing is part of an agreed conversion repair.

What I can verify, and what needs access.

Shopify controls server-level infrastructure and parts of checkout. Available checkout customisation depends on your plan and the supported extension points. I review those boundaries before promising a change. I do not sell a WordPress-style server migration or malware-cleanup package as if the same work applies to a hosted Shopify store.

Product volume also changes the scope. Editing one template can help many products, while correcting individual descriptions or migrating product data is a different job. The quote identifies which work is template-level and which is per product. That distinction makes it easier to compare a targeted repair with the published rebuild and commerce options.

A repair plan you can understand.

The free check shows an automated score and up to three findings. The $29 teardown unlocks the measured evidence, explanations, practical DIY guides and a shortlist of related fixes. You get a private report link and a branded PDF, with 12 months of online access. You can use the report yourself or share it with your existing developer.

If you want me to do the work, select the relevant packages and send the request for review. I confirm what is included, what access is needed and when the work can start. The approved scope and price come before the payment link. A repair request does not automatically charge your card or create a subscription.

Repair versus rebuild is a comparison, not a sales trick.

Several repairs can sometimes add up to a substantial project. When that happens, I compare the two options openly. A rebuild may offer better value if the underlying layout or content structure is the problem. A focused repair may be the sensible choice if the rest of the site serves the business well. Crossing a price threshold is a reason to compare, not proof that a rebuild is cheaper.

Proof without invented numbers.

My public work collection currently provides broader design and development examples rather than a made-up Shopify turnaround story. For your project, I will document the accepted scope and the measurements actually taken. A relevant, honest explanation is more useful than an impressive percentage with no source.

Keep someone responsible afterwards.

Care plans add regular checks and a defined allowance for improvements. Basic uptime checks and monthly rescans can flag changes worth investigating. They do not make a website infallible, and they do not replace checking the business’s most important workflows. The plan is reviewed against your website before a recurring subscription begins.

You will know how much time is available each month and what the agreed priorities are. If the work needed is larger than that allowance, I explain the options before taking it on. The aim is a manageable relationship where small issues get attention and bigger decisions are made with enough information.

You do not need to diagnose it yourself.

Tell me what you are seeing: a page that feels slow, enquiries that have stopped, a confusing mobile layout or a feature that behaves differently from last week. A useful starting point is the page address and a short description of what you expected to happen. Please keep passwords out of the enquiry form; access arrangements come after we agree the work.

How we keep the project manageable.

Before work starts, we agree the pages and functions that matter most. I ask for the smallest appropriate access needed to carry out the job, and we identify who can approve changes. Where the platform supports it, work is checked on a staging copy or unpublished theme before it reaches customers. That gives us a practical place to test without turning the live business into an experiment.

The handover explains the work delivered and any remaining limitations. If a finding needs a different specialist or a larger investigation, I say so rather than counting it as fixed. You also get a clear explanation of what to watch afterwards, including any settings that should not be changed casually. This is particularly useful when several people update the website or install marketing tools.

What I need from you.

A website address, a short description of the problem and the outcome you want are enough to begin. If there is a specific deadline, tell me before the quote is approved. Later, I may need access to the relevant platform account, confirmation of business details and permission to run a labelled test through a form or customer journey. I will explain those requests in context.

You remain in control of the decision. The report is yours to use, the repair shortlist is optional and an ongoing care plan is a separate commitment. My job is to make the next step understandable and the agreed work accountable.

Your questions, answered.

How do I get started?

Send your website address and a short description of what needs attention through the contact form. Chris will review your enquiry and explain the next step before any paid work begins.

Can I run an automated website scan?

Automated scans and paid report checkout are not available yet. For now, use the contact form to request a review. Chris will confirm the proposed scope and any price before you decide to proceed.

Will I be charged when I select a fix?

No. Your selection creates a review request. Chris checks the website and confirms the included work, exclusions, price and timing before sending a payment link.

Can you fix WordPress, Shopify and Squarespace?

Yes, within each platform’s supported capabilities. The fix menu shows which packages apply. Some work, such as WordPress hosting migration, does not apply to hosted Shopify or Squarespace sites.

Does a poor score mean I need a new website?

No. A score highlights checks worth investigating. Several findings may be resolved by one package. When repair costs become substantial, Chris compares the actual scope with a rebuild.

Is the paid teardown available yet?

The paid teardown is planned but is not available to purchase yet. Any future report pricing and eligible repair credit will be confirmed before payment.

What does the guarantee cover?

Delivered fixes have a 14-day workmanship guarantee covering regression of the work delivered. Subsequent changes by clients or third parties are excluded. Rebuilds have a separate 30-day workmanship warranty.

Can I cancel a care plan?

Yes. Cancelling stops future renewal. Monthly plans continue through the paid billing period. Annual plans provide the agreed year of service and stop renewing at the end of that term; prepaid time is not automatically refunded.
