THE WEBSITE WORKSHOP
Your contact form looks fine. Are the enquiries arriving?
A success message is only one part of a contact-form workflow. The request may be saved in the website but never reach the right inbox, or an email may be filtered after the sending service accepts it.
Test the whole route
With permission, submit a clearly labelled test using realistic fields. Check the stored entry, notification action, sender configuration and recipient mailbox. A public scan can identify a form’s presence, but it cannot prove that the message was delivered and read.
Keep a recoverable record
Where appropriate, store submissions securely as well as sending notifications. That gives the business a way to recover enquiries if email delivery has a problem. Define who checks the queue and how long personal data is retained.
A practical checklist
- Send a labelled test submission.
- Check the stored entry.
- Inspect the notification recipient.
- Confirm mailbox receipt and spam handling.
What to do next
Start with one important page and one clearly defined problem. Keep a record of the original behaviour, make a controlled change and check the result. If you are not comfortable changing the site, the record gives a developer a useful starting point and makes the scope easier to agree.
A CHD website check can add public-page evidence to that conversation. The free result includes a score and up to three findings. The full $29 teardown includes the measured findings, practical guides, a private report and a PDF. Any repair work is reviewed and quoted before payment.
