THE WEBSITE WORKSHOP

Check contrast and keyboard access

A visually clean interface can still be difficult to read or operate. Start with the controls visitors need to complete the main task.

1. Check important text and controls

Review text against its actual background, including hover, focus and disabled states. Images and gradients can change the contrast across an area.

2. Follow the focus

Use the Tab key from the top of the page. Make sure focused links and buttons are visible, usable and reached in a sensible order.

3. Open and close components

Test menus, dialogs and expandable sections. A control should expose its state and return focus sensibly when the interaction ends.

4. Record the remaining limitations

Automated checks only cover part of accessibility. Keep a list of manual tests and known issues so improvements can be prioritised.

When to ask for help

Stop if the change affects a critical workflow, requires access you do not have or produces a result you cannot explain. Keep the original evidence and a restorable backup. A short, well-defined repair request is easier to review than a series of speculative changes.

Related repair: request a scope review. Choose your platform on the request form; availability and price are confirmed before payment.
