Shopify product schema: check what exists before adding more
“Your products have no schema” is a claim that needs evidence. Themes and apps can already output product data, and the fetched HTML may differ from the final rendered page.
Inspect the actual product page
Use a representative product and compare the visible price, availability and product details with the structured data. Check for conflicting outputs from multiple tools. Fixing an inaccurate implementation is a different task from creating a missing one.
Keep expectations sensible
Structured data helps describe content in a supported format. Search engines still decide whether a page is eligible and whether a richer result is shown. Do not add reviews, offers or claims that are absent from the real page. Accurate markup is part of a sound implementation, not a shortcut to guaranteed traffic.
A practical checklist
- Test the product URL, not only the homepage.
- Identify the theme or app generating data.
- Check price and availability consistency.
- Avoid duplicate competing implementations.
What to do next
Start with one important page and one clearly defined problem. Keep a record of the original behaviour, make a controlled change and check the result. If you are not comfortable changing the site, the record gives a developer a useful starting point and makes the scope easier to agree.
A CHD website check can add public-page evidence to that conversation. The free result includes a score and up to three findings. The full $29 teardown includes the measured findings, practical guides, a private report and a PDF. Any repair work is reviewed and quoted before payment.
